
Essential Legal and Financial Issues
This course aims to provide some essential legal/financial training for those mediating in cases involving issues of property and finance.
What you will learn:
- Orders available in connection with ancillary relief
- An introduction to principles governing the exercise of the court's discretion
- Some options with regard to division of property and other assets
- About child support and spousal maintenance
- An introduction to pension sharing
- What is available to cohabitants
Non-lawyer mediators who:
- Have recently completed the FMA foundation course
- Major in mediating children's cases and wish to extend their practices into property and financial mediation
- Have some experience mediating property and financial issues but want a refresher course to enable them to mediate with more confidence
- Non-practising or non family lawyers
Our Trainer
Deborah Turner is a barrister who has practiced as an independent legal consultant for over ten years. An accredited member of the FMA and Member of the UK College of Family Mediators she is recognised by the Legal Services Commission as an All Issues Mediator and has considerable experience mediating both children’s issues and issues of property and finance. For nine years she taught law at Warwick University.
