Direct Consultation with Children

Who Should Attend?

Family mediators with experience in dealing with children who wish to acquire the skills and techniques required to consult directly with children as part of their family mediation practice in appropriate circumstances following FMA policy, and as a child consultant within Collaborative Practice.  Priority will be given to PPC's and ADR / FMA trained mediators.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the Direct Consultation with Children training, participants will have attempted to

  • Define 'direct consultation with children' and understood its process and context
  • Consider the units of competence for consulting children in mediation / collaborative practices
  • Develop skills in how to communicate with and to consult children
  • Deliberate the different models of practice
  • Identify the policies and procedures that are relevant to this work

Training Information:

Please note that as part of the training for this event, trainees will be expected to work on material received in advance of the course.  Training will be delivered by group discussion and role plays as well as incorporating input from trainees.  Additionally, trainees will be required to complete portfolio work which may be completed during and /or after the course.  On successful completion (and police clearence), you will be registered with FMA/ADR Group and qualified to provide this service.

£375 excluding VAT (Members)
£412.50 excluding VAT (Non- members)
£40 plus VAT (required) for enhanced police clearance check for those not already covered
