
Complex Finances for Mediators
Pensions, trusts, companies, sole traders, overseas assets, inherited wealth, short marriages, pre-nuptial agreements, unmarried couples etc all raise difficult issues for the family mediator.
You need specialist knowledge so that you can:
- Give appropriate legal information
- Enable the clients to decide what disclosure they need
- Assist the clients to seek necessary information eg. from a pensions scheme or an accountant
- Ensure the clients are informed about the available options (i) by agreement (ii) if the matter is resolved by the court

- The impact of the 2006 pension changes and "A day"
Company issues:
- Different business types
- What information and documentation do you need?
- Interpreting business accounts
- Valuing company interests
There will be worked examples and the chance to ask questions.
Our Trainers:
Clare Renton is a Barrister specialising in Family Law at 29 Bedford Row Chambers and accredited Family Mediator. She trained under the aegis of John Hynes in 1995. She is a former board member of the FMA and Co-ordinator of the Central and South London group. She specialises in the areas referred covered in this seminar.
Florence Terry is an accredited Mediator and PPC. Since she qualified as a solicitor in 1993 she has specialised in Family Law with a particular focus on finances in divorce and separation. Having been a partner at Family Law in Partnership since 1998, she set up in practice on her own as a solicitor and mediator last year.
