The third major service offered by legal practices, alongside litigation and mediation services?

  • Law without litigation
  • Mediation with advice

Collaborative Law is a voluntary dispute resolution process originally developed by a family lawyer who had become disenchanted with the traditional style of litigation.   ADR Group believes the same principles that have preserved the integrity and dignity of families, who wanted mediation with advice, can also bring relief to those in dispute to many areas of civil and commercial areas of the law including:

  • Business
  • Commercial
  • Construction
  • Contract

  • Employment
  • Insurance
  • Intellectual Property
  • International

  • Trust and Estates

Selection for the Training Programme:

Mediation skills are an essential requirement of successful collaborative practice and this has certainly proved to be the case in the US and amongst family collaborative lawyers here in the UK.

All ADRg Civil & Commercial Collaborative Law delegates will be required to demonstrate essential mediation skills or to have undertaken recognised mediation training.

Programme Content:

This 2-day programme is the first of its kind in Europe and develops delegate’s understanding of the collaborative law process and how it will apply to civil and commercial cases.  Delegates will also learn about how ADR Group Civil and Commercial Collaborative Law will be marketed as well as how to develop Collaborative Law ‘pods’.

By the end of the programme, participants will have an understanding of:

  • International trends in Collaborative Law
  • The Paradigm Shift
  • The Ethical Considerations
  • The steps and process

And be able to:

  • Effectively communicate within the Collaborative Law process
  • Confidently enroll the Client
  • Equipped with the very best techniques to deal with other Collaborative Lawyers, difficult clients and situations
  • Develop Civil & Commercial Collaborative Law Practice

Who Should Attend?

  • Accredited Civil & Commercial Mediators (ADR Group or other mediation qualification recognised by the Civil Mediation Council)
  • In-house counsel or solicitors involved in general Civil or Commercial practice.

ADR Net Members are encouraged to be in at the start of this exciting new area of dispute resolution practice. Numbers on the inaugural course are limited with priority for places being given to ADRg Net members as we believe their existing mediation and dispute resolution skills mean they are particularly well placed to take forward development of ADRg’s Civil and Commercial Collaborative Practice.
