Advanced Dispute Negotiation
There are plenty of courses on Advanced Negotiation but this is one of the first designed specifically for mediators to hone their skills in the negotiating phases of mediation.
This course is for mediators who have completed their foundation training and may have had some practical experience of mediation, but who are looking to develop their skills in dispute negotiation – negotiating with the parties and between the parties at critical phases during the mediation.
Course Content:
This half-day workshop is very practical. Participants will take part in training, feedback sessions, round-table discussions and role plays derived from real mediations, all designed to enable them to move more smoothly through the various stages of a mediation and steer the parties towards settlement.
By the end of the programme, participants should be able to:
- Identify the negotiating style of the parties and to modify it where appropriate
- Negotiate more effectively with solicitors and barristers representing their clients
- Manage the parties’ expectations more effectively
- Negotiate with and between the parties
- How to maintain momentum, break deadlock and steer the parties towards settlement.
