ICAEW

Two of the UK’s most respected professional membership bodies, The Chartered Institute of Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW”) and the ADR Group, have joined forces to launch a unique Commercial Dispute Resolution service.

Aimed at corporate and Boardroom conflict, the two organisations have created a tailored service that combines the highest level of corporate and financial management expertise with professional legal mediation skills.

The service involves the appointment of two mediators, a Chartered Accountant Mediator and a legally qualified Mediator. In working together the two mediators offer a unique blend of financial and legal experience that can be drawn upon by the parties, during the course of the mediation process, to help them shape solutions that address wider corporate considerations.

Mediation is well established within the legal profession and is generally used as a tool within the litigation process. However, there is considerable benefit to key stakeholders in business if the process is used at the earliest point in the conflict cycle with the appropriate level of Board and executive engagement.

With increased pressure on organisations to find ways to remain competitive in increasingly tough global economic conditions, business leaders are seeking more effective ways to manage conflict without to the cost and business disruption associated with conventional litigation.

The Service was launched in London on 9th June 2009.

Details of the Mediators connected with this service as available here. The panel is limited to 20 mediators, each chosen to provide the Service with a broadest range of expertise and professionalism.
